Zouk at the USC!
Important notice: Activities at the USC during this Pandemic are under strict conditions. Read the Rules and Conditions carefully.
In Brazil, Zouk has become popular, under the name Kizomba, perhaps under the influence of Portuguese-speaking African countries.
The music genre Zouk originated in the French-speaking Caribbean islands of Guadeloupe and Martinique. Zouk was originally a typical Caribbean music genre, sung in Kweyol (French Creole). The rhythm of the Zouk has its roots in music styles such as the Cadence, Kompa and Soca.
Zouk means "party" in Creole. Very appropriate because it is a joy to dance Zouk. It is a fluid, wavy dance with many hair movements, drops and turning patterns. The dance is performed with many graceful movements. The lady is sexy and the gentleman macho.
Certain registration rules apply to our group classes and fitness training, which can be found on this page. Read them carefully.
