Tennis at the USC
Tennis remains extremely popular at the USC. You can play recreationally on one of our 8 outdoor courts, take part in a tennis course or register with Qravel – the most sociable tennis organisation in Leiden.
From beginner to advanced tennis player - you can participate in different ways in this fun, multi-faceted and physically demanding sport. Fast push-offs to be able to reach the ball quickly enough, high jumps to prevent the ball from flying over your head, twisting your upper body backwards to hit a powerful backhand, tightening your back muscles for the perfect serve. Prevent injury and work on improving your fitness at our gym during the season.
FROM COACH POTATO TO GO-GETTER!
To improve your tennis skills you can take part in a variety of courses at the USC. Take part in a course and improve your forehand, backhand, serve or game insight. Every top tennis player spends time on improving strength and stamina. In addition to time on the court, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal spend considerable time in the gym. Coordination, muscle strength, start-up speed, stamina and agility are important elements to work on in order to improve your performance on the court!
FITNESS SCHEDULE TO FIT
Get together with our Fitness instructors to see where you can improve and what you need to work on and they will make sure that you achieve optimal fitness for the court. You will find you win more matches, enjoy the game more and stay injury-free. Tennis and working out go hand in hand.
Sport subscription holders can reserve a court (minimum 2 players, maximum of 1 hour a day) at www.dmsonline.uscleiden.nl. Reserving a court can only be done on the day you intend to play at the booking kiosk in the Club building next to the sport fields.
Each year the Sports Centre offers tennis courses of 10 classes with 9 participants for €30,- per person. Registration and payment for courses can be carried out at the USC reception desk or at www.dmsonline.uscleiden.nl, where you can pay for a course directly using iDeal.
