Mindfulness at the USC
Important notice: Activities at the USC during this Pandemic are under strict conditions. Read the Rules and Conditions carefully.
As a student you are expected to divide your attention between your studies, your friends, your student association, earning enough money to get by, and making choices for your future. With so much going on in your head you can lose sight of yourself and succumb to stress.
During this 6 week course you’ll be taught mindfulness and yoga techniques which can serve as tools to help you maintain balance in your life. You will also learn to recognize when your levels of stress are rising.
Of course stress and tension are a part of everyday life, but they shouldn’t control your life. By using these techniques you’ll learn to recognize signs of stress and to change your behaviour in a positive way, thus ensuring that stress doesn’t take over your life.
After this training
- You will understand better what stress is and how it can affect your body, spirit and emotions
- You will recognize signs of stress
- You will have gained experience in mindfulness meditation and yoga-based relaxation exercises
Structure
Each session lasts 1 hour 15 minutes. You will be taught a combination of theory and practical exercises, such as mindfulness meditation and yoga. If you have any injuries of physical disabilities it would be useful if you could let us know in advance.
You may sometimes be given an assignment to practice at home.
Registration rules
Certain registration rules apply to our group classes and fitness training, which can be found on this page. Read them carefully.
