Student referee concludes season at Dutch Student Championship in Eindhoven

On 16 and 17 May, the Dutch Student Ice Hockey Championship (Nationaal Studenten Kampioenschap) took place in Eindhoven. Among the officials was Filip, a student-athlete from Leiden University, who trains at the University Sports Centre and combines his academic studies with a career in sports officiating.

“Finished off the season at the Nationaal Studenten Kampioenschap in Eindhoven – a great tournament and an exciting way to close out what’s been the most fulfilling season of my officiating career so far.”

Looking back, Filip describes the past season as his most rewarding to date. “I was lucky to stay healthy and incredibly grateful for the trust I received throughout the season, getting the chance to officiate a wide range of games at a high level. It all culminated with the full Eredivisie playoff run, including the last two games of the final series between Eindhoven and Nijmegen, and the honour of refereeing the Netherlands vs. Belgium friendly just before both teams left for the Division IIA World Championships.”

“Thanks to everyone who made this season possible – and to @teamstripesnl for the constant support. Looking forward to what’s next!”
