Update new building USC Leiden

Finishing phase in full swing!

We’re proud to give you a fresh look at the progress of our brand-new University Sports Centre! Construction is steadily moving forward, and we’re approaching an important phase: the finishing stage. Below is a brief update on what’s happening both inside and outside the building.

What’s happening outside?
The aluminium exterior window frames are currently being installed, and more and more glass is being added. On the first floor, there’s a lot of activity around the installation of the steel façade cladding – the building is really starting to take shape!

Interior work in full swing
Inside, there’s a lot going on at ground level. The installation of water pipes, sewer ventilation, and fire suppression pipes is in full progress. The toilet installation frames are being mounted, and the dry standpipe system has now been fully completed. Work is also underway on the ventilation system in the large sports hall, so you’ll be able to exercise in a well-ventilated space.

Interior walls & technical systems
All metal stud interior walls have been installed. Once the electrical systems are in place, these walls will be closed up, and the wooden door frames will be fitted. The sound systems have also already been installed. On the first floor, work on the interior walls is also progressing steadily.

Tiling & sports floor
Tiling has begun in the changing rooms. Next week, the tower crane will be dismantled – a great milestone! After that, the floor in the large sports hall can be laid, and the roof will be completely sealed.
