Update: Construction of the New USC

On behalf of Leiden University, Binx is building our new University Sports Centre. This sustainable facility will feature both indoor and outdoor sports facilities, a sports cafe, and an examination centre. The approximately 9,000 m² complex, located on the site of the former football and rugby field, will be energy-neutral and equipped with a green roof.

In recent months, significant progress has been made. The foundation has been completed, and steel construction is underway, with structural, concrete-filled steel columns and beams being installed. Simultaneously, Xella Netherlands has begun laying the foundation course for the sand-lime brick walls. Additionally, the floor pits for Competition Hall 2 have been poured, and nearly all cast-in-place concrete walls on the ground floor have been completed, with only one remaining.

This week, the first sports floor in Competition Hall 2 was poured. For this, RvR Betonpomp Verhuur deployed an impressive 67-metre-long concrete pump—the largest concrete pump in the Netherlands!
